The untouched natural environment of the peninsula results in a diversity of wildlife for the patient observer. Otters and seals are common visitors to the shallow waters near the park, the red deer, the largest wild animal in the U.K. can be seen on or near the park.
Birdwatching
Loch Sunart and the surrounding areas are extremely rewarding for bird watchers. Close by to the site is the newly built Garbh Eilean wildlife hide, which is accessible to all abilities.
The hide is situated on a rocky knoll on the shore of the Loch. Just in front of the hide is a small island, Eilean a'Chuilinn, which is home to a heronry.
Many species of seabirds can be seen from the hide including rarer species such as golden eagles and white-tailed sea eagles.
Other sightings from the hide within the last year have included: Cormorants, Oystercatchers, Cuckoos, Kittiwakes, Red Throated Divers, Wood Warblers, Woodpeckers, Black-Backed Gulls, Sandpipers, Chaffinches, Meadow Pipits, Goosanders, Guillemots Razorbills, Mergansers, Herring Gulls, Lesser Black-Backed Gulls, Black-Headed Gulls, Coal Tits, Great Tits, Long-tailed Tits, Greenfinches, Spotted Flycatchers, Tree Creepers, Willow Warblers, Goldcrests, Grey Wagtails, Mallards, Buzzards, Shags.
